Unveil the magic of precious stones with this year's Ovis et cetera yarn calendar. Inspired by the mesmerizing colours found in pebbles and gemstones, this yarn calendar takes you on a journey of gentle neutrals fading into pops of colour like pinks, blues, and greens.

The calendar consists of 24 x 25 gram mini skeins, which is slightly heftier than the usual yarn calendar, 600 grams of yarn together! More than enough for at least one garment, a big shawl or a blanket. But also perfect for individual little projects.

You can choose between two bases: Igneae & Close. Both will be dyed up in a similar fade of mostly solids and semi solids. As Igneae is a white yarn and Close a grey, colours will be more dark & moody on Close. The mini skeins will form a fade with a good amount of neutrals fading into pops of colour. They can also perfectly be used in any order, for you to play with colour combinations, as together they will form a cohesive palette.

There is the option to add a 100 gram skein, which will be a colour that will compliment your 24 colour fade. As well as a stitch marker set, which will be added to the mini skeins individually as little surprises every few days. Together they form a set of 6, matching this calendar theme.

Your mini skeins will be individually wrapped in numbered paper bags which I encourage you to use again. Also the optional big skein will be wrapped, unnumbered, to keep as a surprise for the end, or to open immediately and use as a canvas for your fade of minis.

Your yarn calendar will ship mid Oktober.

The bases:

Igneae is a luxurious blend of non-superwash wool, ramie and silk. 100% made out of natural fibers. Soft, shiny and drapey, very suitable for accessories and garments or a pair of luxurious socks.

Fingering weight
60%wool
20% ramie
20% silk
100 gram / 425 meter / 464 yard  approx

Ramie is a plant fiber that gives shine and drape. It is very strong and anti bacterial. The silk makes Igneae even more shiny and soft.

Igneae is grown in South America and spun in the Czech Republic. Hand dyed with Greener shades acid dyes (GOTS certified, no heavy metals) in Germany

Close is a custom spun 100% wool sock yarn by John Arbon Textiles. It is a lovely blend of 3 different sheep breed that all live close to the mill in Devon, making it a minimally travelled yarn. I chose to add a dash of Zwartbles both to give the yarn its lovely heathered colour, and to add a bit of my Dutch heritage.

Colours look beautiful on the grey background and it has the cutest little halo which shows itself even more once knitted up.

Close is spun with a little bit of extra twist for extra durability, making it perfect for socks but also suitable for many other purposes, it has great stitch definition which makes cables and stitch patterns pop, and it is ideal for colourwork.

Fingering weight
40% Devon Closewool
40% Exmoor Blueface
20% Zwartbles
100 gram / 400 meter / 437 yard  approx

Close is grown and spun in Devon, UK by John Arbon Textiles. Hand dyed with Greener shades acid dyes (GOTS certified, no heavy metals) in Germany.

I recommend handwashing with a mild detergent and lay flat to dry.
